This gorgeous leaf art originated in a small town in India and is done on dry Peepal leaves. This artwork is one of the oldest forms of art, and only a few people around the world are left that create this form of art.

This artwork is painted on delicate leaves and shows the creativity and perfectionism of the artist. The Peepal tree is a very large tree that has heart-shaped leaves with long tapering tips. It produces a purple fruit when it is ripe.

The Peepal tree has many myths and stories associated with it. For instance, to cut down a Peepal tree is considered a sin and a person goes to hell for doing so. Also, some people are careful to only touch a Peepal tree on a Saturday because of a mythical story and it is considered safe to touch a Peepal tree on that day.

The Peepal tree is also considered sacred to Buddhists, because it is believed that Buddha attained enlightenment under it, which is why it is also called the 'tree of enlightenment'.

I love this artwork because it is beautiful and I can only imagine the time and carefulness it takes to make one of these. Of course, if I attempted this I'd have to give up as soon as my fingers touched the leaf because I know it would crumble immediately. I'm not a gentle person and definitely not patient enough to do these.
