iRobot Creat Challenge: Robot Building Invention Contest

Three innovative companies have teamed up to for a competition in innovation with their Robot Invention Contest called iRobot Creation Challenge. iRobot, Tom’s Hardware Guide and Instructables are jointly running the robot invention contest.

The iRobot Create Challenge is a robot building contest that the sponsors say will challenge your ability, your creativity, and your mastery of technology. The rules require you to use the iRobot Create Programmable Robot platform (which you have to pay $129 for ) to develop your own "unprecedented and innovative robot that's functional, helpful, entertaining, whimsical or simply amazing."

You can win $5000 if you are the winner. The contest runs from now until August 31, 2007. More info on the rules and how tos are here and here. One of the landing pages with a ton of information is at Tom's Hardware.

Contests!

Hello,

Beside the iRobot challenge, Instructables is also currently hosting three other contests for those budding inventors out there. The first is The Laser Cutter Contest, in which, as the name implies, you can win a laser cutter. The next upcoming contest is the Etsy Sew Useful Contest in which we are partnering with Etsy.com to give away a couple Singer sewing machines. Lastly, we're having another one-week lightning contest in which an Instructables t-shirt goes to the best refrigerator magnet. So, in short, there are some pretty great things for grabs other than $5,000 and an iRobot Create (which are a lot of fun to play with).

Sincerely,

Randy

(on behalf of the Instructables team)
